I also support the following comments:
Since you are a leading decision-maker at KSL-TV, I am writing to urge you to STOP BROADCASTING soap operas, sex-coms, dramas/ late night programs that are rich in sexual content and innuendo (pre-marital sex, adultery, same sex relationships, and perverse and unnatural sexual behavior).

I commend you for refusing to broadcast "Saturday Night Live." But what about the other NBC programs you carry which are sex, violence, and profanity laden?

I understand your need to generate profit yet I believe that you are profiting at the expense of our children and families.

I am sure that you are aware of the research that shows that young people emulate and socialize the behaviors, attitudes, and values they see portrayed in the media.

As purveyors of this programming and the offensive behaviors they portray, I believe you provide a rational for impressionable young people to participate in the behavior at critical moments of personal decision making in their lives.

Much of programming you distribute is titillating and, as such, provides sexual imagery and situations that arouse the sexual appetites of young people who are already under a lot of pressure to participate in these behaviors.

Many of the programs you broadcast are rich in profanity. As distributors of this programming, I believe you are condoning use of this language by young people and other members of our community.

I believe that KSL-TV has the wherewithal to be a force for good. Imagine what an example KSL could set for the media world by providing original programming that not only appeals to advertisers but is entertaining, ennobling, and inspiring. KSL-TV could be a catalyst for a positive new renaissance in entertainment, cultural enrichment, and education.

Until all offensive programming is removed, I will not support local advertisers who sponsor these programs. I will notify your sponsors of my intent to boycott their services and products.

If you refuse to change your programming fare, I will support the public protest of your station and your advertisers in the form of picketing and peaceful demonstration.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I look forward to reading your response.

Sincerely,

Please Stop Supporting Offensive
NBC/KSL-TV Programming

Dear KSL-TV Advertiser:

I am (your name, city, state appears here).

I support the following comments:

It has come to my attention that you are a frequent advertiser and thus sponsor of sexually explict, profane, and violent programming that appears on NBC-TV affiliate KSL-TV. (For a graphic description of the specific programs you have sponsored please click here
).

I am concerned that the programming you support denigrates and derides the long-cherished values of abstinence from intimate relationships before marriage and complete fidelity between husband and wife after marriage.

I am concerned about the possibility of young people emulating and socializing the values portrayed in these programs (pre-marital sex, homosexuality, adultery, beastiality, sexual objectification of women, pornography, profanity, violence, and the ridicule of traditional values and traditional families) into their lives.

I urge you to immediately stop being a partner with NBC/KSL-TV in the pollution of our homes with this reprehensibly offensive and destructive programming.

I understand your need to generate profit through television advertising. Nevertheless, I believe that you are profiting at the expense of our children and families.

Therefore, as long as you continue to finance such programming, I will no longer support your business, buy your products nor use your services. I will also inform and persuade my friends and neighbors to do the same.

After repeated requests, if you continue to support salacious programming through advertising, I will participate in a local boycott of your products/services and participate in public demonstrations against your commercial concern.

Again, I ask you to immediately stop supporting ALL of the offensive programming.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I look forward to reading your response.

Sincerely,
