Television has the potential to entertain, educate,
inspire, ennoble and enrich our lives. |

CleanTV.Net is a non-profit media research/education
organization designed to influence television networks
to replace programs laden with sexual, profane and violent
content with wholesome, family friendly programming.
Network television has gone too far. The frequency and
magnitude of offensive programming is epidemic and getting
worse. Pre-marital sex, adultery, homosexuality, profanity,
nudity, and violence are the staple of network
|
programming.
Sex, sick gutter humor, and graphic violence is big business
that results in billions of dollars each year for the
major television networks and their local affiliates.
Sex, Nudity, Profanity & Violence Sells
The networks are only doing their jobs by providing this
fare. It is their purpose to lure as many viewers as possible
to watch their shows so local and national advertisers
have a big audience to sell their products. The more titillating,
the more violently graphic, the more profane the programming
fare, the more viewers come to watch, and the more the
networks can charge the advertisers for commercial time. |
Local News Advertisers are the Real Problem
The profit center for most local network affiliates
is the local news. Local stations use network programming
to draw a large local viewing audience. It is during
these programs that local stations advertise and "tease"
their news programming. When a local affiliate has a
large news audience they can charge local advertisers
a premium because the station is delivering a large
local audience interested in local events.
Therefore, offensive programming is paid for and subsidized
by local news advertisers. Ultimately, local news advertisers
are the real problem. As long as they support the news,
offensive broadcast programming will flourish. If local
advertisers refuse to support the news, the major source
of the local affiliate's revenue will be diminished
and the local |

the problem: advertisers who support/subsidize offensive

affiliates
will demand the networks to change. This can only be achieved
by targeting and financially "persuading" local
advertisers through the threat of local boycott and public
demonstration to discontinue their support of offensive
programming.
Powerful, Personalized Email Targeting at the
Touch of a Button
CleanTV has developed an email technology that allows
concerned and busy people like yourself to instantly submit,
with the simple click of a button, emails to those local
advertisers. Select the offending advertisers from our
list; type your name and email address into our form;
write a personal letter if you like, click the submit
button and your emails are on their way. |

Change the world of network television with the click
of a button.
|
Grassroots Advertiser Boycott Campaign
Not only will your emails express your concerns and state
your demands but they will graphically detail the offensive
content of the shows the advertisers sponsored. When confronted
with this information many advertisers will, out of concern
for a community backlash, refuse to sponsor such programming.
The advertisers who don't comply will be identified and
targeted for boycott and peaceful organized protest.
Once local network affiliates begin to lose revenues from
local advertisers, they will begin to demand the networks
provide less offensive fare. Once the networks begin losing
national advertising accounts they will get the message:
"The majority of Americans are fed up!! Enough is
enough!!" The key to success to is go after ' "goose"
that lays the networks' "golden eggs"—the
advertisers. |
The Loss of Money is the Only Thing the Networks Understand
When enough affiliates from the nearly 200 U.S. media
markets begin to demand change, the networks will listen
because they too will begin losing revenue. The potential
loss of money is the only thing the networks understand.
When the sponsors pull out, the networks will be forced
to change. CleanTV.Net provides the vehicle to demand
and create this type of change. |

The Values Modeled On Commercial TV Become Mainstream
Behavior
CleanTV.Net was created Steven A. DeVore, founder of SyberVision
Systems and a pioneer in understanding the effects
of media on personal values and behavior. In almost 10
years of research with the Stanford University Neuropsychology
Research Laboratory, DeVore learned that the values, attitudes,
and behaviors portrayed and repeated in the mass media,
are eventually adopted by individuals and become socialized
into mainstream culture.
He learned that young people who are the formative stages
of character development are the most susceptible and
vulnerable to this powerful media influence. The choices
they make in media in large part influence the choices
they make in life. |
| Adults
are also affected by this pernicious influence of media.
What we first abhor as offensive in the media, with enough
repetition, we soon become desensitized to, gradually
tolerate, and eventually, through quiet attrition, embrace.
